Fight depression with activity.

Today there is a report on the alarming rise in the number of folk being prescribed anti-depressants and the economic climate is being blamed for their low mood. And not surprisingly. With job insecurity, house values falling and uncertainty prevailing in so many areas of people's lives it's not surprising that lots of folk are getting worried and feeling down.

But we can help ourselves become less depressed without it costing us a bean. Exercise has been proven to release endorphins which are 'happy hormones'. They make us feel better and are known to lift depression. Going for a brisk walk, or a run if you can, will effectively lift your mood and the great thing is that at the same time you will be burning extra calories which will also help you to lose a few pounds while you become fitter.

In times of stress many folk turn to food for comfort and that is the worst thing we can do. As we gain extra weight our energy levels sap. Our clothes become tighter and we lose self esteem - the very last thing needed at the moment. So turn to exercise rather than food or anti-depressants to lift your mood and help turn yourself into a lean and fit happier person ready to fight the challenges that life throws at you.
